Living at the ecolodge

02.01.2019

Author: Eleanor

If there ever was a paradise laid out specifically for tropical entomologists then it would probably look a lot like our lodge. With trees covered moss as thick as a labrador’s coat and lianas hanging from every nook they get even the slightest grip, the place is teaming with pretty much every tropical insect I have ever heard of, and a good few besides.

Even a five-minute stroll from the lodge can quickly become a spectacular adventure as we stumble upon the ingenious trap laid by the ant lion, a beautifully sinister social spider nest and an army of grasshoppers in every colour imaginable.

My trouser knees are already scuffed and muddy from crawling in bushes after that mysterious chirping sound and I still have cramps from sitting still so as to watch two ant colonies participate in an epic battle for territory.

In short, everything is wonderful- and tonight we set out to find the titans!
