The Team

We are Eleanor, Laura and Chris, a team of three who are dedicated to the natural environment and conservation. Together we provide an exciting cross disciplinary collaboration of ecology, entomology, film and social sciences, as well as experience of working in academia and the private sector.

Supporters

The expedition would not be possible without the support of our sponsors. We are so grateful to these amazing organisations:

The Scientific Exploration Society (SES) - a charity that leads, funds and supports scientific discovery, research and conservation in remote parts of the world offering knowledge, education and community aid. We were grateful to receive the SES Inspirational Explorer Award 2018. Thanks guys, you've helped make this research possible!

The Jeremy Willson Charitable Trust - set up to help people and projects that reflect Jeremy Willson’s passions in life: athletics, geology, adventure and the environment. Support from their Conservation Grant is helping our research go ahead.

The Transglobe Expedition Trust (TET) - a charity established to perpetuate the memory of the Transglobe Expedition by supporting humanitarian, scientific or educational projects which follow in the tradition of adventure and perseverance. Their grant support is invaluable and we'll do our best to live up to TET's “mad but marvellous” ways, as described by none other than HRH the Prince of Wales!

The Royal Entomological Society (RES) - devoted to the study of insects and the dissemination of research. We are grateful for being chosen for the RES Goodman Award, with the grant supporting our project outreach including short films, talks and workshops.

Mott MacDonald - a global engineering and development consultancy. Support from their environment sector has helped us purchase radio transmitters and given team-member Laura the go-ahead to take a little break from the day job to work on this research.

We were also lucky to receive great kit from Texenergy and Leatherman at the SES Award ceremony and big thanks to Eat Grub and Yorkshire Tea for much needed refreshments to keep us going on our adventures!

Huge thanks for the past and ongoing support from a range of people and organisations who have given up their time to provide advice or be interviewed for this project. You know who you are and we are so grateful for your invaluable contributions.

Support us

The time we put into this project is entirely voluntary and all personal kit as well as a small part of our expedition costs are still self-funded. If you would like to sponsor us in funds or kit, please get in touch!

Additionally, we are learning all the time. If you have any experience or insights which you think could strengthen our research, we'd love to hear your suggestions.
